Doylestown, Pennsylvania ( February 11, 2007 ) – Polestar Performance Programs Inc. (www.gopolestar.com), the nationally recognized leader in performance development and consulting services for the insurance industry today announced the appointment of Dr. Douglas F. Tumen to the Polestar Advisory Board.
Dr. Tumen will serve as the Senior Wellness Advisor for Polestar Wellness, ( www.polestarwellness.com ) a newly formed division of Polestar.
In a joint announcement, MaryAnne DiCanto , President of Polestar Wellness, and James T. O'Connor, Chairman of the Polestar Board, cited Dr. Tumen's extensive list of accomplishments and leadership within the healthcare industry. Said Primiano, “We are honored to have Dr. Tumen as our friend, advisor, and mentor. He is a pioneer in the field of metabolic-based customized nutrition, a healthcare industry visionary, and the perfect compliment to our board.”
A leading authority in the field of metabolic-based custom nutrition programs, Dr. Tumen is dedicated to loosening the grip that the pharmaceutical industry has on the healthcare industry by enlightening and enabling practitioners and the public to understand and make better use of proactive nutritional science for healthy living. This effort has culminated in Dr. Tumen joining a team of health care professionals, PhDs and nutritionists from Bioceutica to bring in-home metabolic testing and customized nutrition programs within the reach of most Americans. Previously, such customization was only available to wealthy celebrities, Olympians and professional athletes.
In addition to this work, Dr. Tumen has been practicing podiatry New York 's Hudson Valley for over 20 years as a partner in HVFA ( www.hvfa.com ). A graduate of the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine, Dr. Tumen is a Diplomat of the American Board of Podiatric Surgeons, Board Certified in Foot Surgery, and a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. Dr, Tuman is a marathon runner and former Race Director for the annual Kingston Classic 10K race. Active in community events, Dr. Tumen has served on the Board of Directors of the YMCA of Kingston; was and Honorary Chairman of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation Walkathon; and a recipient of the “Pride of Ulster County” award from the U.C. Legislature.
