Managing to Peak Performance

Management Development Training

Custom designed for agency management teams, this skills development program emphasizes self-management and the art of developing people for increased effectiveness. We work in small groups and in one-on-one coaching sessions that are focused on advancing leadership skills and managing agency initiatives. Each participant undergoes an extensive personality profile and peer assessment designed to identify strengths, weaknesses, and pervasive styles that either enhance or obstruct high-performance results. Having established a performance baseline, coaches and participants outline and implement a personal program designed to improve managerial commitment, competence, confidence, and results.

Program Objectives

  • Develop standardized and disciplined management practices for the assigned areas of influence.
  • Align and unify personal and professional objectives.
  • Evaluate and improve management effectiveness and performance of specific disciplines within five broad categories: self-management, planning skills, delegation, internal communications, and consistency.
  • Develop higher-level skills, behaviors, and habits that exceed current practices and point directly toward advanced objectives.
  • Accept and expand personal and professional accountability and performance.

Scope & Format

We will conduct four, quarterly group meetings over a one year period. Immediately following the group conference, one-on-one meetings will be scheduled with each participant to design, implement, and review individual management plans. Daily, weekly, and monthly business and personal goals and supporting activity will be established, tracked, and reviewed for effectiveness. An intensive online mentoring & peer support program is the foundation of this development platform.

Group meetings are scheduled for two hours each. One-on-one meetings are scheduled for 60 minutes each. Weekly online activity reviews and daily online group sessions are scheduled during the program.

Each session will focus on key topical areas, as follows:

Session 1:

Directing Performance Results

When we accept the responsibility of leadership we move from sole contributor to coach, director, and decision maker. It is our responsibility is to develop and manage an efficient, logical, and effective approach to the work to be done. There are some basic individual disciplines all managers must practice in order to lead effectively. Our first session together will address these disciplines and set the groundwork for all that follows.

  • Leadership skills and the human dilemmas of leadership.
  • Time management and personal organization.
  • Management action plans that work.
  • Setting expectations and conducting performance appraisals.
  • Interpersonal relationships with superiors.
