Candidly, most agency marketing, communications, and performance development programs are ineffective and uninspiring - as are the vendors that deliver them. These programs attempt to apply a generic, conceptual solution to a fundamentally unique developmental need, do so in a one or two day information blast, and leave it up to the client to adapt the message and adopt the suggested behavior. This approach works on the drawing board but rarely on the street.
Our philosophy is more logical. To be effective we must first understand what it will take to have the desired effect. We must identify, isolate, and analyze each variable within the
client company’s “organizational DNA” to find our impact areas and structure our program.
We conduct a formal, structured, needs assessment with every client for every program that we facilitate.
The IMC assessment is conducted by the Polestar Team in as
little as four hours. During this assessment, we evaluate
every component of the operation and focus heavily on the
marketing and communications platform that is needed to promote
the agency and the value proposition. We will conduct interviews
with every employee of the agency, record every perspective
and statement of need, and return to you within two weeks
with an outline of your agency performance improvement plan.
After reviewing our findings, suggestions, and recommended plan of action; we create a cross-functional agency performance improvement plan that includes every strategic marketing, communications, sales, training, client service, and carrier partnership initiative.
Once settled on the action items and the priorities, we work together to assign specific roles, time lines, and objectives for each initiative. Here is where it gets really exciting…we do some or all of the implementation. No need to try and manage the details and accountabilities, we’ve got you covered.

As indicated in the sample plan in Appendix 1, any agency performance improvement plan will be as unique as the agency that it was created for. We will not stuff you into a cookie-cutter system or approach. Quite the opposite.
