Stepping Up Program Presentation Skills &
Team Building for Production
Underwriters

Answer and present the following:

  • What are the pertinent performance benchmarks and how are they measured?
  • How will you monitor, evaluate and report on your team’s activities?
  • What are some strategies for improving team communication?
  • What is your method for managing problems and agency issues?
  • What are you doing to remain innovative and efficient?
  • What victories could your report today?
  • What is your single greatest idea to improve the underwriting department?

Following these breakout session, each team will present their conclusions. If the group is large (20+), time constraints will limit each team’s presentation to reporting their answer to one of the eight questions. However, we will gather a record all answers at the end of the presentations.

It is important to note that every presentation, including the victory reports, behavior modification testimonials, and impromptu roll-plays that are mixed in throughout the session, will be evaluated for presentation style by every member of the audience. We will use a variety of signaling devises (flags, whistles, nerf balls, etc.) to gig presenters that violate any one of the “presentation don’ts” that we identified in our first session. These will also be wonderful coaching opportunities and lots o’ fun.

For homework, we will compile the responses to each question and review them with the underwriting management team to select the criteria for the monthly status report presentations. We will then email the chosen criteria to each participant so that they may prepare their first status report for our next session. We will conduct 1 hour team sessions following this general session to specifically review the agency management and segmentation plans.
