Mary Ann Avnet, CPCU & API

Facilitator, Independent Performance Coach to The Institutes

Mary Ann Avnet joined the Polestar team as a Performance Consultant in 2014 after a 43 year career in the insurance industry.

Mary Ann’s career began with a large regional insurance agent in upstate New York. Throughout the 18 years that she worked there, her experience grew to include almost every fact of agency management and client service. Initial responsibilities for claims and business development led to managing teams of client executives in both personal insurance and commercial insurance with responsibility for growth and retention of client accounts.

In 1989, Mary Ann joined the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies as a personal lines underwriter in the Rochester, NY territory. But her prior commercial experience led her into a marketing manager role, with responsibilities for working with all of the agents appointed in the branch and the opportunity to work with newly appointed agents to acquaint them with the underwriting appetite and capabilities that the company excelled in. Moving to New Jersey, her experience grew with each new position providing opportunities to enhance her skills in sales management, creation of a national client service office handling clients from all over the country, to a national position with responsibilities for Customer Relations and Marketing.

Yearning to get closer to the clients, in 2003 Mary Ann joined a large international broker as a branch manager of their largest regional office for Private Client Services in Las Vegas. From that location, they provided client service, claims advisory services, and business development in all 50 states. In 2007, she took on the role of a National Client Executive working with some of the largest personal clients on a national basis. Working with the Client Advisors in local offices, together they created custom risk management and insurance programs for affluent clients. Mary Ann also became a specialist in captive insurance programs for large family accounts, often engaging in feasibility discussions with family offices and affluent clients who were interested in exploring ways to manage more of their own risk.

Mary Ann is a licensed agent in Nevada and holds a Chartered Property & Casualty (CPCU) designation as well as an Associate in Personal Insurance (API) designation. She resides in Las Vegas with her husband Steve and has three grown children and two grandchildren. She is an active Rotarian and tries to live their motto of “Service Above Self”.
